First of all, I’d like to thank Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse for inviting me to become the permanent co-host of the Tiggerific Tuesday Blog Hop. I’m thrilled to be involved, and am looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting plenty of new ones!

Because today is the start of a new adventure for me, I’d like to share another innovation I discovered recently. Imagineers working on the Fantasyland expansion project at Walt Disney World have embraced the iPad* to streamline their construction process and solve problems on (virtual) paper before they become real headaches in the field.

This strikes me as particularly interesting because it is so cutting edge. Yes, iPads have been out for a couple of years, and many professionals (myself included!) use them for business. But there’s a big difference between a small or mid-sized business and a mega-corporation like Disney. Many large established corporations fall into the trap of stagnation. They find a solution that works and they stick to it despite leaps forward in technology or process innovations. Not so with Disney – somehow they manage to retain the experimental mindset that is more common among freelancers and small businesses.

Ok, so maybe my inner geek is showing…but how cool is this?? What’s your favorite example of Disney’s inner geek?

* The Imagineers are careful not to specify brand names in the video, but those tablets look an awful lot like iPads to me!
