A Mom’s Virtual Vacation at Walt Disney World

Welcome to those of you joining me from DISTherapy and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month we’re celebrating Mother’s Day with our favorite Mom-approved Disney experiences.  When I think of celebrating Mother’s Day, what really comes to mind is a day where somebody else takes over all the responsibilities of being Mom while I get to sit back and just play and enjoy my family. And who is better at that than Disney? For my Mother’s Day virtual vacation at Walt Disney World, I have two requirements: I get to choose the restaurants, and nobody is allowed to complain – about anything!   This virtual vacation is all about taking it easy – not something I get to do very often! To make that happen, we’ll stay at Disney’s Polynesian resort. Every time I walk into the lobby...

Virtual Tour of Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month we’re taking you on a virtual tour of our favorite Disney parks. If you’ll step this way, we’ll head into my pick: The Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom resonates with me because of its continuity. I visited Disneyland as a child, so when I stepped through those gates as an adult, it really did feel like coming home to a part of my life that was easier, more carefree. There is something truly magical about a place that can transport you across decades and miles the instant you step inside. (Thanks to My Dreams of Disney for providing the perfect picture!) Main Street, The magic begins on Main Street, Say all you like about the dangers of romanticizing...

Adults-Only Trip to Walt Disney World

It’s been a stressful few weeks around here. Nothing major, just one minor thing after another. Over the weekend, I priced out a Disney vacation – just my way of fantasizing and letting go of the stress. Just for fun, instead of quoting two adults and four kids, I looked at what a trip for just the two of us might cost. A second honeymoon, maybe? But then again . . . what kind of horrible, mean, selfish parents would we be to take a Walt Disney World vacation without the kids?? Could we really get away with dropping the kids off at the grandparents’ house while we spent a week at Disney? Better hope the kids don’t read my blog today . . . (This is the only photo we have from our first Disney trip that has both of us actually standing next to each other!) What...

Virtual Vacation: Long Weekend at Disneyland

One of my few complaints or regrets about our trip to Walt Disney World was that we really didn’t have time to do everything we wanted to. I had hoped to spend a day exploring our resort, and more time at the World Showcase in Epcot. More reasons to go back! For my virtual vacation today, I’m assuming even less time – just a long weekend. Instead of Walt Disney World, where I know the list of things to do would be overwhelming, I’m opting to spend the weekend at Disneyland. It was my “home park” growing up, and I know so much has changed since I was there last in the mid-1990’s! Friday Morning: Check into our resort. For this virtual vacation, I’ve chosen the Grand Californian Hotel. Let’s face it, I’m a luxury kind of girl! There’s something amazingly comforting about the refined elegance of this place....

The Perfect Disney Christmas Gift

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride as we share with you what we consider the perfect Disney Christmas gift. When I started thinking about how to introduce a little Disney magic into this Christmas, the obvious answer was – unfortunately – out of reach: I am pretty sure if the kids came downstairs on Christmas morning and saw nothing but this, they’d still declare it Best Christmas Present EVER. Actually, I think if we did take a Christmas trip to Walt Disney World, we’d come home from the Christmas Vigil Mass on December 24 to an envelope from Santa Claus with plane tickets and a note saying “Made a mistake – your presents got misdelivered! Pick them up #8221; Feigning as much confusion as the kids we’d head over to the airport (where a friend would be waiting out of sight with our...
