My DisneySide: Magic, Stories, and Dreams

Welcome to those of you joining me from DISTherapy and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. To celebrate the new and improved Magical Blogorail, we’re sharing our DisneySide moments. What is DisneySide anyway? To me, DisneySide is that part of me that never quite grew up. The part that – every once in a while – drops everything to go out for ice cream because it’s Monday, and Mondays require ice cream. It’s the whimsical, silly, impossible side that sticks its tongue out and laughs at this serious grown-up world we all try to live in. When I tried to think of how my DisneySide comes out, I came up with a few examples that seem silly and unimportant, and yet they make all the difference in the world. And really, that’s what DisneySide really is all about! Make a...

The Perfect Disney Christmas Gift

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride as we share with you what we consider the perfect Disney Christmas gift. When I started thinking about how to introduce a little Disney magic into this Christmas, the obvious answer was – unfortunately – out of reach: I am pretty sure if the kids came downstairs on Christmas morning and saw nothing but this, they’d still declare it Best Christmas Present EVER. Actually, I think if we did take a Christmas trip to Walt Disney World, we’d come home from the Christmas Vigil Mass on December 24 to an envelope from Santa Claus with plane tickets and a note saying “Made a mistake – your presents got misdelivered! Pick them up #8221; Feigning as much confusion as the kids we’d head over to the airport (where a friend would be waiting out of sight with our...

Surprise Adventures inspired by Disney Magic

Have a Very Happy Thursday! Of course, Thursdays are always Very Happy here because it’s blog hop day, hosted by Lisa at Babes in Disneyland. Today we’re talking about ways that we create Disney magic for the people around us. I’m going to go “off-topic” today and share our most recent adventure and the Disney magic that inspired it. Waaaaayyyy back when I started blogging here, I mused about surprising the kids with a trip back to Walt Disney World. Life happens, and we haven’t been able to book that surprise trip. Yet. But a couple of weeks ago we gave it a trial run! As I mentioned earlier this week, Bill loves Halloween. The creepier and scarier the better. Every year we go to Fright Fest at 6 Flags, which is about three hours away. Then that Sunday happened. It was one of those days, when anything that could...

Virtual Vacation: Going to Paris!

It’s Virtual Vacation Wednesday! These posts are all fantasy, a little fun and relaxation in the middle of the week. Most of the time, planning is half the fun but this week what I really needed from my virtual vacation was to just go and let somebody else do the thinking. So I showed up on one of my favorite blogger’s virtual doorstep and said “It’s been a long week….we’re going to Disneyland!” Manda lives in Scotland and writes about Disneyland Paris Manda’s Disney Blog. ************* Here’s our girls’ weekend in Disneyland Paris ************* So Tricia turns up on my doorstep with 2 day 2 Park Disneyland Paris tickets! (I would always go for longer, but to keep this virtual vacation from turning into a book … I’m sticking with a 2 day trip! 😛 ) Let the virtual vacation begin! I’ve been instructed that money is no object with my...

Who Says Mickey Only Hides at Disney?

I took a ride on the Magical Blogorail today and got a great idea for surprising the kids from Kristen at Cooking with Mickey – hidden Mickeys! So I’m thinking, about a month before the trip, I’m going to start leaving a little stuffed Mickey Mouse in odd places. Then the morning of the trip, he’ll be holding the tickets (unless I find a 3-foot Mickey statue!) Any great ideas for strategic Mickey placement? Pin It
