Top 5 Food Experiences at Walt Disney World

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month, we’re talking about one of my favorite topics – food! Specifically, our Top 5 foods or restaurants at Disney. I’m a serious foodie. Meals can make or break my vacations, which probably explains a lot about where I travel, and why I’d return to Walt Disney World in a heartbeat! Picking just five food experiences I’d love to re-experience has been tough. It’s really not fair, when even the fast food is pretty good! But I’ll give it a shot: 5. Spirit of Aloha dinner show. The show itself was mixed – I could easily skip the first half which was more kitschy dinner theater than I really care for. The second half, featuring traditional polynesian dancers, was amazing. Our entire family, including...

Favorite Future World Attraction: Living with the Land

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month we’re heading over to Epcot to discuss our favorite Future World attractions. I’ll admit, I was a little bored with Future World. The kids spent what felt like hours – hours! – exploring the fire safety exhibit. Yes, in the middle of Walt Disney World, my kids find the most hard-core educational activity around and refuse to leave. I blame their teacher! Ok, so maybe it wasn’t that bad, but I’m really more of a World Showcase kind of girl. I did find one attraction that captured my imagination, and I found it completely by accident. On our last day, we decided to go to Epcot for the morning before heading to the airport. After we finally pried the kids out...

The Perfect Disney Christmas Gift

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride as we share with you what we consider the perfect Disney Christmas gift. When I started thinking about how to introduce a little Disney magic into this Christmas, the obvious answer was – unfortunately – out of reach: I am pretty sure if the kids came downstairs on Christmas morning and saw nothing but this, they’d still declare it Best Christmas Present EVER. Actually, I think if we did take a Christmas trip to Walt Disney World, we’d come home from the Christmas Vigil Mass on December 24 to an envelope from Santa Claus with plane tickets and a note saying “Made a mistake – your presents got misdelivered! Pick them up #8221; Feigning as much confusion as the kids we’d head over to the airport (where a friend would be waiting out of sight with our...

Disney Pastry Chef for a Day

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail. Today we’re discussing what we would look forward to the most if we could be cast members for a day. My choice is probably a little unconventional. I wouldn’t choose to be one of the characters, or a tour guide, or a ride operator. I’m much happier behind the scenes. If I could be any cast member, I’d choose to be a Disney pastry chef, making everything from amazingly magical wedding cakes to exquisite pastries to simple Mickey Mouse cookies. Why cake? Why, if I could do anything at all at Disney, would I choose to spend my day in the bake shop? Let’s face it, bake shops are hot, and the work is physically, mentally, and creatively exhausting sometimes. But do...

Reasons to Return to Walt Disney World in Fall

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month we’re talking about Fall in Walt Disney World. We visited Walt Disney World in early September, the week before the Fall decorations were put up. We chose this week purposely, partly because we didn’t want the special decor and events to overshadow Walt Disney World itself. We wanted to experience the classic Disney vacation. Had I known about the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, that might have changed – or it might not. Our first trip was classic, hot and wonderful. By the end of that week, we had started to accumulate a list of reasons to go back. Since I don’t have pictures and personal stories of all the wonderful Fall-themed events at Walt Disney World, I’d like to...
