Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival Replaces Captain EO

I’ll admit, when I’ve been in Epcot, I’ve passed right by the Magic Eye Theater featuring Captain EO starring Michael Jackson. I’m more into fantasy than sci-fi, and I’ve never been a big Michael Jackson fan, so the whole attraction just wasn’t for me. I suspect I’m not the only one. This attraction was originally shown for 10 years, ending in 1996. It was brought back as a tribute in 2010, after Michael Jackson’s death. Being in Futureland, it’s time to keep moving and look forward to something new. Starting in December, the Magic Eye Theater will feature the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival featuring Disney & Pixar shorts shown in 4D. Disney also hinted at some behind the scenes insights – so maybe we’ll get interviews with imagineers as well? No word yet on which shorts will be featured, so we’ll just have to wait and see....

Disney-Inspired St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

Welcome to those of you joining me from My Dreams of Disney and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail. And thank you to Magical Blogorail Red for letting me join you this month to celebrate one of my favorite holidays – St. Patrick’s Day! Since everyone is a little bit Irish this time of year, I thought I’d share what I’ll be serving my own family: a Disney-inspired St. Patrick’s day dinner. Corned Beef & Cabbage If you happen to be in Epcot, you can sample this classic Irish dish at the Rose & Crown Pub in the UK Pavilion in Epcot. If you’re at home, it couldn’t be easier to prepare! Go to your local grocery store and buy a corned beef brisket. It will come with a spice packet. (Normally, I’d turn up my nose at such a thing,...

Disney Dining Tips for Special Dietary Needs

“What are we going to eat?” is a major question for any family on vacation, but when you add in food allergies and special diets, it becomes a lot more crucial. It’s no secret that we’re devoted foodies around here, or that there are certain foods that we don’t go anywhere near. With a family of 6, Celiac Disease, nut allergy, mollusk allergy, and “I only eat these 5 foods”-itis, here are my top Disney dining tips for families with special dietary needs. There are three basic levels of Disney dining: Table Service, Quick Service, and Snacks. They’re all delicious (of course!), but they all have their quirks. I’ll show you how to navigate all three. Disney Table Service Dining with Special Diets Table service dining is the most expensive of the dining options at Walt Disney World. It includes any sit-down restaurant where a cast member comes to...

Special Events at Walt Disney World

Image courtesy of Heidi Strawser. Thank you! With summer winding down and Fall in the air, life is starting to gear up toward the holiday season. First there’s Halloween, then we go right into Thanksgiving, and Christmas, not to mention birthdays and apple picking and a handful of other traditions. Disney is no different – after a summer of just being Disney, they’re gearing up too. There are several big special events at Walt Disney World over the next few months: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights starting tomorrow, September 11 through November 2. Epcot International Food & Wine festival starts September 28 and runs through November 12. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts as soon as Halloween ends, running from November 9 through December 21. Holidays Around the World at Epcot happens between November 23 and December 30. You get the idea! These are the major...

Mother’s Day, Disney Style

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride  as we share some Disney Indulgences for Mother’s Day. At first, I thought that I would write this post about some of the over-the-top luxurious resorts and dining experiences Disney has to offer. But the more I thought about it, and about Mother’s Day in general, I realized those didn’t quite hit the mark. If Mother’s Day is about celebrating motherhood….well, let’s just say that white linen tablecloths aren’t a big part of my motherhood experience! Instead, I’d like to share with you how I would love to spend Mother’s Day, Disney style. To start with, I want to wake up on Mother’s Day morning at the Polynesian Resort. Perhaps Bill and the kids have even let me sleep in past 6 as they snuck downstairs to procure the best coffee at Walt Disney World! We’ll take the...
