Moments With the Cast

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow.  Enjoy the ride as we share a moment with a Cast Member who went out of their way to create Disney Magic. This subject is very close to my heart. Maybe because as a Mom I know how much work goes into making mundane things run smoothly! Normally, I try to include a photo with every blog post, but I won’t be doing that today. I don’t have photos of the person I want to share with you today. At the time, we were simply tourists, not Disney bloggers. We took pictures of Spaceship Earth, Cinderella’s Castle, and the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom. It didn’t occur to me to take pictures of the housekeeping or restaurant staff. My bad. I won’t make that mistake again next time, because those people – not some giant golf ball – made...

Ships Sail in Darkness

Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Go To Girl or those of you who have just hopped aboard.  I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. Our challenge for this special Magical Blogorail loop is to interpret a Mouse of Zen haiku with a photo and personal memory. Before I can offer my interpretation, I have two confessions to make: First, I’m a poetry geek. I majored in English in college and wrote my thesis on Yeats’ The Second Coming. I have far too many notebooks full of random verse that never quite saw the light of day. Second, just between you and me, I hate haiku. I always have. I couldn’t stand it in grade school when they made us write them. I won’t bore you with my analysis of the form and my objections to it. Just suffice it to say, haiku...

Virtual Vacation: Going to Paris!

It’s Virtual Vacation Wednesday! These posts are all fantasy, a little fun and relaxation in the middle of the week. Most of the time, planning is half the fun but this week what I really needed from my virtual vacation was to just go and let somebody else do the thinking. So I showed up on one of my favorite blogger’s virtual doorstep and said “It’s been a long week….we’re going to Disneyland!” Manda lives in Scotland and writes about Disneyland Paris Manda’s Disney Blog. ************* Here’s our girls’ weekend in Disneyland Paris ************* So Tricia turns up on my doorstep with 2 day 2 Park Disneyland Paris tickets! (I would always go for longer, but to keep this virtual vacation from turning into a book … I’m sticking with a 2 day trip! 😛 ) Let the virtual vacation begin! I’ve been instructed that money is no object with my...

You Can Never Have Too Many Princesses!

Disney Parks just announced that Rapunzel will be joining the official court on October 2, 2011. The celebration will be held at Kensington Palace in London, UK. What I wouldn’t give to attend that party! It’s great that over the past several years Disney has opted to celebrate women’s strengths, intelligence, and creativity without sacrificing a shred of femininity. I swore many years ago that my daughters would never play with Barbies (remember the “Math is HARD!” debacle?) but I’m fine with my little girl idolizing the Disney princesses. She could certainly choose worse role models than Belle, with her pride in intelligence and study, or Rapunzel with her courage in following her dreams. Pin It

Prince Charming Arrives Bearing Gifts!

You know you married a good guy when he arrives at the hospital bearing gifts strategically designed to maintain your sanity: a French press coffee pot so I don’t have to drink hospital coffee and a Disney Parks video! While Patrick is in surgery this afternoon, I’ll make a cup of good coffee, pop in the DVD, and fly away for an hour. Must be true love! Pin It
