Disney’s Festival of the Masters 2013

Today through Sunday, November 10, Downtown Disney is being transformed into an open-air art festival known as Disney’s Festival of the Masters. This is an annual event that is right there with the Epcot Food and Wine Festival on my Disney bucket list. Throughout this 3-day event, you’ll be able to see and purchase work from more than 130 award-winning artists, as well as artwork from Disney Imagineering and the Yellow Shoes Creative Group. Going beyond the artwork itself, the artists and imagineers will be available for meet and greets and demonstrations throughout the weekend. The festival is not limited to visual arts – performance artists from La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil will demonstrate their skills as well. Several venues, including House of Blues, Bongos Cuban Café, Raglan Road, and Splitsville, have live bands scheduled to play. Disney Dream Portrait Series: Russel Brand as Captain Hook

I recently discovered the Disney Dream Portrait series by fine art photographer Annie Leibovitz. Her most recent work features Russel Brand as Captain Hook. Absolutely beautiful stuff! I’m off to search out a source of prints. Ms. Leibovitz’s work on the Disney Dream Portrait series has been featured in several fashion and lifestyle magazines, but I’m not quite desperate enough to cut out pages from a glossy and tape them to the wall! Disney Artwork in the Mailbox!

A couple of months ago, Bill and I signed up to watch a video on Disney’s new Hawaii resort, Aulani. I really did intend to write a review of it, but never did! The short version is – the resort looks like it will be wonderful (of course), and the behind the scenes peek was kind of interesting. I’m still not totally sold on the Disney Vacation Club, and the prices for the Hawaii resort are a little insane. All in all, nice to dream about during those “What if we won the lottery” conversations, but nothing too exciting. Fun to watch though, if you’re a Disney travel video geek like me!
