Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

With summer winding down and Fall in the air, life is starting to gear up toward the holiday season. First there’s Halloween, then we go right into Thanksgiving, and Christmas, not to mention birthdays and apple picking and a handful of other traditions. Disney is no different – after a summer of just being Disney, they’re gearing up too. There are several big special events at Walt Disney World over the next few months:

  • Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights starting tomorrow, September 11 through November 2.
  • Epcot International Food & Wine festival starts September 28 and runs through November 12.
  • Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts as soon as Halloween ends, running from November 9 through December 21.
  • Holidays Around the World at Epcot happens between November 23 and December 30.

You get the idea! These are the major events – there are quite a few smaller ones that cater to niche travelers, marathon runners, and so on. On our first trip, we purposely chose to travel before the special events started. We wanted to see Disney just as it is, not dressed up for the holidays. But now I’m seriously tempted by these seasonal events.

Do you make a point of visiting Walt Disney World during special event times, or do you avoid them (and their crowds)?
