Mother’s Day, Disney Style
Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride as we share some Disney Indulgences for Mother’s Day.
At first, I thought that I would write this post about some of the over-the-top luxurious resorts and dining experiences Disney has to offer. But the more I thought about it, and about Mother’s Day in general, I realized those didn’t quite hit the mark. If Mother’s Day is about celebrating motherhood….well, let’s just say that white linen tablecloths aren’t a big part of my motherhood experience!
Instead, I’d like to share with you how I would love to spend Mother’s Day, Disney style.
To start with, I want to wake up on Mother’s Day morning at the Polynesian Resort. Perhaps Bill and the kids have even let me sleep in past 6 as they snuck downstairs to procure the best coffee at Walt Disney World! We’ll take the morning slow, drinking coffee and hot chocolate, as we decide what to do with our family day.
Since it is Mother’s Day, I get to pick the park! We’ll go to Epcot first, because my boys owe me a ride on Soarin’! I stayed behind last time with too-small-to-ride Beth, and there wasn’t time for a second ride.
Sometime in the late afternoon, we’ll head back to our resort for a swim. I might even get an hour or two to read by the pool!
For dinner, we’ll head to Animal Kingdom, then hang out and watch the animals as dusk falls.
All in all, a good day! And the best part is just getting to hang out with my family without managing the schedule or heading off meltdowns, or any of those other not-so-great parts of motherhood. For me, that was one of the best parts of our trip to Walt Disney World – I got to really enjoy my family, because someone else took care of all the mundane details!
How would you spend Mother’s Day, Disney style?
