Time to Slow Down and Enjoy a Great Meal

Welcome back to Foodie Friday! Today I’m exploring the food outside of Disney’s theme parks. It may be tempting to skip breakfast, grab a quick bite at noon in between Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain, and a turkey leg or some other portable meal on your way to the fireworks in the evening, in an effort to maximize your time in the parks and make sure you don’t miss anything. Resist this temptation! To be honest, we pretty much ignore the food at every other theme park. Most theme park food is just plain bad. It’s greasy, overcooked, and overpriced. And then there’s Disney food. One of the things that makes a Disney vacation so amazing, so magical, is the completely immersive experience. The rides and shows and parades are wonderful, but the food is not to be missed. Besides, you need to keep up your strength...

Just the Resort, Thanks.

I’ve written a few virtual vacation posts centered around a common theme – a quick weekend trip to Walt Disney World without the kids. It’s become one of those “Life is really stressful right now and we’re not getting anywhere talking about the problems, so let’s just let it go and talk about something else” conversation starters in our house! “If we could head to Walt Disney World this afternoon, where would we stay?” “If we could have dinner at Epcot tonight, where would we go?” It’s gotten me thinking. How crazy would it be to book rooms at a Disney resort, make Advanced Dining Reservations, and skip the theme park tickets? One of my big regrets from our first trip is that we really didn’t take time to enjoy the activities and atmosphere of our resort. Could we make a weekend getaway happen without visiting the parks? And...

First Morning Traditions at Walt Disney World

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month, we’re writing about our family traditions at Disney. Some family traditions just happen. You’re making breakfast one morning and the kids are horrified because you used the wrong pan for the cinnamon rolls. (In her defense, my mother had no idea there was meaning attached to the pan she used and I, being a slacker teenager, hadn’t done the dishes the night before like I was supposed to!) Then there are the traditions you consciously create. Last year was our first trip to Disney, but we’ve travelled extensively with our crew. I know how wiped out I on the first day of vacation, after spending the previous day in airports or in the car. I need to do something to kick off...
