Splitting Up On Disney Cruises

Have a Very Happy Thursday, as Pooh would say. Thursdays are always fun around here, because it’s Blog Hop day! Thanks to Lisa from Babes in Disneyland for hosting, as always. This week’s theme is family, and that actually turned out to be a bit difficult. Almost everything I write about here centers around my family! As I’ve been thinking it over today, I realized there is one thing I haven’t covered here at Return to Disney: the Disney Cruise Line. While I was running my launch party giveaway in April, I reviewed the Disney Parks videos, including one about the Disney Cruise Line. We hope to take our family on a Disney vacation every year or so, and we’re expecting that we’ll probably branch out from the two American theme parks eventually. Disneyland Paris is definitely on my must-do list, thanks to the great photos and stories at...

Let’s Go Swimming – With the Sharks!

Today is Thursday, which means it’s Blog Hop Day, hosted by Lisa at Babes in Disneyland! I missed the blog hop last week due to my son’s health crisis (if you’re interested, you can read the details at Praying for Patrick.) But I’m back, blogging from ICU! This week’s theme is Summertime – which is appropriate considering the crazy hot weather I’m told we’re having. When we went to Disney World last Fall, we skipped the water parks. At the time, we figured, we have water parks at home so let’s spend our time in the theme parks instead. Over the last couple of months I’ve been doing some research for a book project (I’ll fill you all in once my agent finds a publisher for it!) and found out about a truly unique offering at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. According to the Disney World website, at the Shark Reef...

What Makes the Magic Happen?

Disney magic is different for everyone. As I’m planning our return to Disney World, I’ve seen a lot of information on visiting Disney on a budget, cutting costs, and so on. Some of it makes sense, but I’m staring at a hard decision: What’s essential, and what’s not? I knew when I started this journey that earning enough money above and beyond what I need to contribute to our family budget wasn’t going to be easy. I still don’t know for certain that I’ll be able to pull it off. Freelancing is a high-risk career – I may be drowning in work one week and have nothing to do (except blog!) the next. I won’t know for sure that I can pull off this trip until every last dime is actually in the bank. I priced out different options recently, and it really hit me – staying at a...

“How Do They Know My Name?”

Just another example of Disney magic – our only girl has answered to “Princess” from the day she was born. Everywhere we went at Disney World, cast members greeted her as “Princess!” The first time, she was utterly shocked–how could this stranger know her name? But after the first day, she seemed to accept it as perfectly normal! This little girl is normally VERY shy around strangers, but apparently people who know your name is Princess are ok! Pin It

Anonymous Cast Members

There’s no question – Disney World really is magical. But there’s more to the magic than the characters. There is a small army of anonymous magicians who go out of their way to make sure the little details of your vacation just fall into place. I searched, and I don’t think I have a single picture of those cast members! That kid of bothers me. I remember them. They made our stay at Disney World the magical experience that it was. But they don’t get the accolades. Instead, they go home after their shift, take care of the kids, make dinner, and go back the next day to do it all over again. I’d like to invite you to share your memories of the anonymous cast members who made your Disney experience magical!  If you’re a Disney blogger, will you write a post on your blog celebrating the little...
