Spirit of Aloha: My Most Memorable Disney Meal

Welcome to those of you joining me from The Disney Point and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail. I’m filling in on the Magical Blogorail Black line this week. We’re discussing our most memorable Disney meals. Usually, when you think of something that is really memorable, it’s either wonderful or utterly horrid. There is no middle ground with memorable! The Spirit of Aloha dinner show was definitely memorable for our family. First, the horrid – let’s get that out of the way early. It was held late at night, so the kids were already pretty tired. Then there was the seemingly interminable wait to be seated. Boredom, check. I have quite a few out-of-focus pictures like this one, which were taken more to entertain a two year old than to capture memories! Then there was the actual show. It was...

Disney California Adventure Through the Eyes of a California Girl

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride as we share with you the one Disney destination we have always wanted to visit but haven’t had the chance yet. I grew up in California. When I was little, we lived in a tiny ranching community in the mountains just south of Oregon. I spent my middle years in Los Angeles (talk about culture shock!), before moving out to the valley just before high school. I may have lived in the flatlands of Illinois for my adult life, but deep down, I’m still a California girl. It’s just not the kind of thing you grow out of! I left for the Midwestern hinterlands in the fall of 2000, about 6 months before Disney California Adventure opened its doors. At the time, I thought it was ridiculous to build a California-themed park in California. Dude, if you’re visiting Cali...

Mother’s Day, Disney Style

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride  as we share some Disney Indulgences for Mother’s Day. At first, I thought that I would write this post about some of the over-the-top luxurious resorts and dining experiences Disney has to offer. But the more I thought about it, and about Mother’s Day in general, I realized those didn’t quite hit the mark. If Mother’s Day is about celebrating motherhood….well, let’s just say that white linen tablecloths aren’t a big part of my motherhood experience! Instead, I’d like to share with you how I would love to spend Mother’s Day, Disney style. To start with, I want to wake up on Mother’s Day morning at the Polynesian Resort. Perhaps Bill and the kids have even let me sleep in past 6 as they snuck downstairs to procure the best coffee at Walt Disney World! We’ll take the...

Favorite Land & Attraction in Magic Kingdom

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month we’re talking about our favorite lands in the Magic Kingdom, and our favorite attraction in that land. This is a tough one! My initial thought was Fantasyland – I’ve always been a sucker for princesses and happily-ever-after! But then there’s Main St. USA (does that count as a Land?). I’ve always wanted to slow down and wander up and down Main St. and never have! As a teenager visiting Disneyland, Main St. was something you hurried through on your way to Space Mountain. Visiting Walt Disney World as a parent, Main St. was something we hurried through on the way to the rest of the park! Then of course there’s Liberty Square and the Haunted Mansion….which I simply cannot get...
