Princess Lessons

It’s early August and that means it’s time to start serious school preparations. Two weeks until the first day of school! As a homeschooling parent, I’m parent, teacher, and administrator of our little school. No pressure ­čÖé One of the perks of homeschooling is that we have the time and focus to address all aspects of our kids’ lives as part of school. This year, Princess will begin preschool and one of our goals for her is that maturity leap from self-centered toddler toward empathetic, reasonable child. And I found a great resource to help her do it! She’s answered to Princess from the day she was born, so why not use that┬áidentity┬áto help her learn more princess-like behavior? Without Sound – a Deaf Child at Disney World

I recently chatted with Sal Tracanna┬áof The Best Magic website and podcast about the unusual similarities between our sons. I tend to focus on the challenges of autism because that is what I know and live every day. I didn’t realize until I talked to Sal how many of the things I do to accomodate my boys also apply to his son, who is deaf. When I asked Sal if he would write a guest post, he agreed to share his story. Have a Very Happy Thursday!

It’s so appropriate that the Babes in Disneyland Blog Hop happens on Thursdays, and this week’s theme is Winnie the Pooh, in which Tricia, a very fuddled blogger, tries to think of what to write about today. Then something magical happens . . . Pooh suggests going to see Eeyore in case his house has blown down again and needs rebuilding. Piglet says that they should go and see Christopher Robin, if only he would be home, which he wouldn’t be, and then Pooh says that they should go and see everyone, because then they could turn the day into a Friendly Day, which is obviously preferable to an Unfriendly Day, being friendlier.
