Stars of Social Media: We’re Going to Disneyland! #DisneySide

We didn’t watch a lot of sports when I was growing up. It just wasn’t a big thing in our family. But I do remember the Rose Bowl being on TV every New Years’ Day, and the winning quarterback always had a spot at the very end where he’d hold up the game ball or a trophy or something and yell “I’m going to Disneyland!” That was a long time ago, before there was such a thing as social media. But it planted a seed. Earlier this week, Disney invited seven stars of social media to come to Disneyland to highlight the new #DisneySide promotion. Sure, they’re getting some pretty influential people to talk about Disneyland, but I don’t really think that’s the point. Disneyland doesn’t need awareness – I don’t think there’s anybody who doesn’t know about Disneyland! The whole #DisneySide campaign is really about the fans and our...

Gluten-Free Disney Inspired Thanksgiving Menu

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Yellow. Enjoy the ride as we share how to have a Disney Thanksgiving at home. Gluten-Free Disney Inspired Thanksgiving Menu For some of us, the magic of Disney begins with the food. I love that aspect of the parks, because it’s something I can re-create at home. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. It’s an autoimmune disorder that treats gluten – the protein found in wheat, rye, and barley – as dangerous and attacks. Unfortunately, my overactive immune system goes a little overboard and I end up as collateral damage. Even the smallest amount of gluten can make me sick for days. No fun. I’m not worried about traveling to Disney. Actually, it’s one of the few places I don’t worry about whether or not I’ll be able to eat safely. They’ve got this under control, but...

Road Trip Snacks – Disney Style

We’re getting close to our return trip to Walt Disney World, and the reality of the situation is starting to sink in. This year, we’re driving to Florida. Plane tickets are just too expensive this time – they would cost almost half of what we’re spending on the vacation itself! So we’re hitting the road, and that means road trip snacks – Disney style, of course! To make the trip even more fun, we’re surprising the kids! They know we have a trip planned, but we’ve been a little vague about the dates, so this should work. The plan is to pick them up from school on a Friday afternoon, van packed and ready to go. We’ll get on the interstate heading South and see how far we get before they figure out where we’re headed. Of course, I plan to drop plenty of hints, and I found the perfect one!...

Magical Blogorail Coast to Coast Giveaway

I took a break from the Magical Blogorail for several months to focus on writing Daughter of Oreveille, but now that the book is done, I finally have time to come back and blog about Disney! I’m so excited to re-join the Magical Blogorail for this event because it really mirrors my Disney experience. I grew up in California and went to Disneyland as a kid, then moved to Illinois and have taken my own kids to Walt Disney World. Plus, I’ll be rejoining the Magical Blogorail Yellow Line in October, so there’s even more reason to celebrate! I know a lot of Disney fans have a “Home Park” but I’ll claim both as my favorite place on earth! So I was thrilled when my friends in the Blogorail decided to do a Coast to Coast giveaway. There will be two randomly drawn and verified winners of this giveaway....
