Getting Creative with Disney Imagicademy {Review}

Welcome to the third post in our winter boredom busters series, sponsored by Wonder Forge Games! Today we’re playing with two Disney Imagicademy activity kits designed for younger kids Disney Imagicademy Frozen Science Disney Imagicademy Storymation Studio Since the boys got to geek out on Star Wars last week, and seem to have an odd allergy to all things Frozen (Let it Go, guys!), This time it was just us girls – and we had a BLAST! First up: Frozen Science activity kit. It comes with an activity book full of puzzles and science experiments that my daughter was able to do all by herself. The kit comes with a variety of colored pencils, stickers, a mister, rainbow glasses, and colored dye tabs for use in one of the experiments. I really liked that none of the experiments involved materials that I didn’t have on hand, and they really challenged...

Should I Drive or Fly to the Walt Disney World Resort?

TriciaNovember 3, 2015No Comment 2015-11-03T11:58:04+00:00
It’s one of those big questions that comes up once in a while on Disney-related forums, and it’s one that has to be answered before every new trip: How are we going to get there? We’ve done both, and I’ll tell you which one I prefer, but first I’ll lay out a list of pros and cons to each. Before we begin, I should let you know that we live in Illinois, about 1200 miles from the Magic Kingdom. If you live closer, or father away, this list might look different for you. Flying to the Walt Disney World Resort – Pros Speed. Flying is definitely faster than driving, but it’s not exactly quick. The flight from Chicago to Orlando only takes about 2 1/2 hours, but once you consider the time to drive to the airport (about 30 minutes, unless there’s traffic), getting through security (1-2 hours), and...

Disney-Inspired St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

TriciaMarch 6, 201421 Comments 2014-03-06T05:49:45+00:00
Welcome to those of you joining me from My Dreams of Disney and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail. And thank you to Magical Blogorail Red for letting me join you this month to celebrate one of my favorite holidays – St. Patrick’s Day! Since everyone is a little bit Irish this time of year, I thought I’d share what I’ll be serving my own family: a Disney-inspired St. Patrick’s day dinner. Corned Beef & Cabbage If you happen to be in Epcot, you can sample this classic Irish dish at the Rose & Crown Pub in the UK Pavilion in Epcot. If you’re at home, it couldn’t be easier to prepare! Go to your local grocery store and buy a corned beef brisket. It will come with a spice packet. (Normally, I’d turn up my nose at such a thing,...

Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain

Jodi WhisenhuntJanuary 23, 2014No Comment 2014-01-16T15:36:52+00:00
I’m taking over Tricia’s blog today while she has Returned to Disney, so let’s pop over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park for a wild adventure on one of my favorite attractions in all of Walt Disney World Resort. Expedition Everest—Legend of the Forbidden Mountain was added to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2006, bringing a second weinie to the Park and giving thrill seekers a reason to visit. It also helped reinforce the Park’s claim that it is most definitely “NotAZoo.” After all, what zoo features a 199-foot tall mountain range, a 50-mph train, and a real Yeti? Disney Parks weinies are the things that are symbolic of each park – Cinderella Castle, Tree of Life, Spaceship Earth are some others. The word is one of Walt’s own! He described those things/buildings/symbols as being as integral to a theme park as hot dogs (or as he called them, weinies). This...

Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival Replaces Captain EO

TriciaNovember 16, 2015No Comment 2015-11-16T10:15:35+00:00
I’ll admit, when I’ve been in Epcot, I’ve passed right by the Magic Eye Theater featuring Captain EO starring Michael Jackson. I’m more into fantasy than sci-fi, and I’ve never been a big Michael Jackson fan, so the whole attraction just wasn’t for me. I suspect I’m not the only one. This attraction was originally shown for 10 years, ending in 1996. It was brought back as a tribute in 2010, after Michael Jackson’s death. Being in Futureland, it’s time to keep moving and look forward to something new. Starting in December, the Magic Eye Theater will feature the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival featuring Disney & Pixar shorts shown in 4D. Disney also hinted at some behind the scenes insights – so maybe we’ll get interviews with imagineers as well? No word yet on which shorts will be featured, so we’ll just have to wait and see....
